Textile and Clothing Production
Explore the world of original textile and clothing design!
The textile and clothing production course is focused on the creation of original patterns and their subsequent transformation into a garment or clothing and interior accessories. The student will gain knowledge and learn the principles of how to develop and work with one’s own idea. Students will explore a variety of textile and non-textile materials, techniques and principles that are necessary for clothing production.
We will focus on pattern construction using a zero-waste approach, in a skirt, vest, kimono or dress. The course is complemented by a series of lectures focusing on contemporary textile design, materials, technology, colour and pattern theory with practical demonstrations. We will focus more intensively on data preparation for digital printing and pattern construction. We will visit exhibitions focusing on textile creation and likewise visit a textile or clothing studio and workshop.
The aim of the course is to work on one’s personal design and its subsequent execution in a product, so that the audience understands the author’s vision, whether it is a purely pragmatic functional design or a free artistic concept.
